Les Miserable performance

The Stillwater Area High School musical “Les Miserable” earned top honors at state. The cast, crew and orchestra earned 25 honors in the Hennepin Theatre Trust's spring Spotlight Awards. The awards are known as the Tony’s of Minnesota high school musical theater. More than 100 high schools participated in the program. The schools don’t compete against each other, theater professionals evaluate the musicals on their own merits instead.

SAHS earned 17 top awards, including Achievement in Musical Theatre, Outstanding Overall Performance, Outstanding Student Orchestra, and Outstanding Overall Technical Team.

Two students earned individual Outstanding honors: Benjamin Valerius as Jean Valjean and Abigail McBride as Cosette.

Five students earned Outstanding tech honors: Zach Benson as Deck Captain, Anne Sullivan and Matthew Lamers as Board Operator, Meghan Walsh as Mic Wrangler, and Marin Brandt as Hair/Makeup/Costumes.

Stillwater performed on stage at the Spotlight Showcase at The State Theater in Minneapolis on June 11. This professionally produced and choreographed evening is designed to highlight the amazing talent that exists in Minnesota high school musical theatre programs.
