August 17: Pony Round-Up Day

PONY ROUND-UP DAY AUG. 17:

Friday, August 17 will serve as a round-up day for all SAHS students to get many of the items from their back-to-school “to-do list” taken care of. The building will be open to students from 8:00 am - 3:00 pm and all students are welcome to come informally throughout the day to take care of tasks that will help make the first days of school go smoothly. On this day, students will be able to:

● Take a self-guided tour of SAHS. Student class schedules will be accessible in Skyward at 8:00 am on Friday, Aug. 17 and students are welcome to bring a copy of their schedule in order to begin finding their classrooms (student schedules will not be handed out during Pony Round-Up--students should access their schedules through Skyward prior to coming to the building). Link Crew student leaders will be on hand to assist and help new students navigate the building.

● Access their lockers. Students will have the opportunity to find their lockers and test their locker combinations.

● Have school pictures taken. Lifetouch will be on hand in the cafeteria to take photos for school ID (required for all students) and school photos (optional). Students will have additional opportunities to have school photos taken on Monday, Aug. 27 (9th grade only) and Thursday, Aug. 30. Families may order school pictures if interested by visiting mylifetouch.com and enter the picture day ID listed on your proof sheet or you can pick up an order form in person.

● Register their technology device. Students who wish to bring their own laptop or chromebook to school for academic purposes will need to have their device registered on the school network. Students may bring their device to the Tech Support Center on Friday, Aug. 17 to complete this task before the start of school.

● Pick up parking permits. Students who have properly registered online for parking permits and who have paid for their permits through FeePay may pick up their hang-tag permit on Aug. 17. Parking permits may be picked up from the window in the cafeteria (former activities office). Seniors may pick up their permits between 8:00 and 10:00. Juniors may pick up their permits between 10:00 and 12:00. Sophomores may pick up their permits between 1:00 and 3:00.

The first day of school is Monday, August 27. On this day, school will be held for 9th grade students only as they are introduced to SAHS. The first day of school for students in grades 10 - 12 will be Tuesday, August 28.

Pony Round-Up is not intended to be a formal open-house or orientation. A more formal orientation will take place for 9th gr. students on their first day of school (Monday, Aug. 27) and a Back-To-School Open House is scheduled for parents on the evening of Tuesday, Sept. 4. Details on 9th gr. orientation will be forthcoming but students will have an opportunity at that time to do many of the same tasks as are offered at Pony Round-Up in the event that they are not able to attend Pony Round-Up. Pony Round-Up is intended to offer an additional opportunity to make sure that all students are able to hit the ground running when school begins.
