Norovirus

February 28, 2019

Parents and Staff,

We have seen an increased number of students out ill with stomach virus type symptoms. These symptoms have included:

Fever

Vomiting

Stomach ache or cramps

Diarrhea

If your child has vomiting or diarrhea, they should stay home until 24 hours after the last episode.

If your child has a fever of 100.0 or greater, they should stay home until fever free for 24 hours, without the use of Tylenol or ibuprofen.

Most of these illnesses are viral, but are still very contagious.

Hand-washing is the most effective way to stop the spread of illness. Please remind your children to do this each time before meals, and always after using the restroom. We will remind them here as well.

Please evaluate your child when returning to school to ensure they are able to eat a normal diet and keep up with regular school activities.

If you have concerns about your child’s illness contact your health care provider, especially if they are unable to keep fluids down.

If your child is going to be absent please call the attendance line each day (24 hours a day) at 651-351-6401, or you may enter attendance in Skyward. When reporting, please leave information about your child’s symptoms as well, so we may track and inform you of particular illnesses occurring.

Please reach out to us for any health questions or concerns.
