Early Intervention Services: Ages 3 to 5

Referrals for evaluation are accepted from parents, physicians or other caring adults whenever a young child exhibits developmental concerns. Stillwater’s Early Childhood intake coordinators can help you determine if your child could benefit from an evaluation from our Early Childhood Special Education team. Ages 3 to 5

Focus: Early Childhood Special Education staff members provide services to students with disabilities to provide instruction and support to address educational needs in a school based setting. Most classes are 1½ to 2½ hours, 2-4 days per week.

Special education classes provide a focus on specific child needs, as related to preschool aged skills, such as:

  • Communication Interactions Disorders
  • Cognitive needs
  • Severely multiply impaired
  • Speech and language

Special education services may also occur within an integrated Family Education and Special Education preschool classroom or in community based partnerships such as Head Start of Washington County.

Bus transportation is an option for families participating in Early Childhood Special Education Services for children ages 3 to 5 within the Stillwater Area Public School District boundaries. An adult must accompany the child to the bus and be there to receive the child when they return home or to daycare. Each bus is equipped with a two-way radio and will have a copy of your child’s transportation emergency card on board.
