Let’s Talk: Marijuana Concentrates

While both traditional marijuana and marijuana concentrates both come from the Cannabis plant, particularly concerning about concentrates (or marijuana extracts) is their significantly higher THC content. Dried marijuana contains about 11 to 20 percent THC, the psychoactive ingredient in marijuana responsible for the high, while marijuana concentrates like hash oil, wax, and shatter (referred to as “dabs”)  contain upwards of 80 percent of THC.

An emerging trend is using electronic vaporizers, commonly called “vape pens” and “dab carts,” to vape marijuana concentrates. The acting of smoking and/or vaping “dabs” is commonly referred to as “dabbing .”
