Homeschooling in the Stillwater Area

Homeschooling is an alternative option to public or traditional private school attendance. MN Statutes 120A.22, Subd 5. The Minnesota Department of Education (MDE) has determined that homeschools are private schools that provide their own curriculum, transcripts and diplomas. MDE does not vouch for or certify curriculum, transcripts or diplomas. District 834 cannot provide curriculum, transcripts or diplomas for home school students. Visit MDE’s Homeschool Information for Parents website.

A parent may choose to home school their child at any time during the school year. However, the parent must notify the school district in which the family resides as soon as they decide to homeschool or within 15 days of withdrawing from school. There are certain steps that need to be taken in order to register a homeschool within your resident school district.
