Oak-Land Junior High students earn high honors in First Lego League competition

Two teams of students from Oak-Land Junior High earned 6th and 8th place in the state First Lego League competition. More than 400 teams from across the state competed at four different regional competition to earn a spot in the state championship.

Sara Damon, a ninth grade geography teacher at Stillwater Junior High, is one of 111 nominated for the honor of 2012 Minnesota Teacher of the Year.

School board hopeful as it looks at the revised budget forecast for the coming year

School board members today received good news regarding the budget forecast for the 2012-2013 school year.  Results of the recently released revised budget forecast show the district’s funding gap for the coming year has been adjusted from $10 million to about $6.3 million, with an additional $8.5 million gap anticipated in 2013-2014.

Spotlight: 6th Grade Girls at Lake Elmo Elementary Love the Skin They're In!

Twice a week, a group of 6th grade girls at Lake Elmo Elementary gather together to build community and utilize their unique talents in a program called Lovin' The Skin I'm In. Lovin' the Skin I'm In offers the girls a chance to strengthen their communication skills, increase their self-confidence and enhance their critical thinking abilities both inside and outside of their classrooms.

Stillwater Area High School to host Special Olympics Minnesota Summer Games

Special Olympics Minnesota announced this week that Stillwater Area High School has been selected to host the 2012 Summer Games June 21-23.  One of six state Special Olympics Minnesota competitions held annually, Summer Games includes gymnastics, track and field, tennis and volleyball.

School board to spend next month deliberating fall budget cuts

After three months of work, the Budget Adjustment Advisory Committee (BAAC) officially handed over its budget adjustment recommendation to the school board last night.

School board approves higher fees for spring sports

High school athletes will pay between $15 to $60 more than last year to participate in a spring sport. School board members last night approved a new spring sports fee schedule which considers the cost to run the sport in determining the price.
