Update: No school Monday or Tuesday, November 23-24 while ALC staff plan transition to Distance Learning at ALC.

Distance Learning for ALC Students-Soft Start on Wednesday, November 25, 2020. ALL A, B, C Expected at a Distance everyday starting Monday, November 30, 2020

Distance Learning begins November 25, 2020 after staff hold transition planning days on November 23-24 at the St. Croix Valley Area Learning Center.

Our school board recently voted to have the ALC and special education students join the high school and middle school in distance learning in our effort to continue to deliver alternative educational opportunities for learners.  Our learning model will provide learners with relevant and rigorous alternative coursework at home using familiar digital tools.

We can positively address equity issues by being able to support our alternative students with asynchronous options and synchronous check in opportunities for creative and relevant multi-disciplinary alternative credit earning scheduled in advance with student and staff insight and planning.

  • Students will begin distance learning on Wednesday, November 25th with a check in on their email, google classroom, an invitation to an online Gratitude Event online and a soft start to the roll out of our distance plan.

    • Office hours will continue to be available at the ALC allowing teachers to honor Governor Walz's direction to add preparation and planning time to our schedules to help your A, B and C students succeed!

  • Advisors will prioritize increased academic, social, emotional support and communication.

    • Advisors will share credit earning options to improve credits earned by learners.

  • Staff will plan school wide curricular options for alternatives for combined credit earning at a distance.

  • Staff will continue the commitment to learning, engagement, and safety.

    • Students will be targeted to confirm attendance using Google classroom attendance class and account for engagement.  This google class asks 100% of ALC students to check in daily social and emotional student feedback for our staff.
