congratulations Anders Abbott and Connor Lange

Stillwater Area High School students Anders Abbott and Connor Lange have been named semifinalists in the National Merit Scholarship Program. They’re among just 16,000 high school students from across the country to receive this honor. More than 1.5 million high school students apply for National Merit Scholarships. They are automatically entered when they take the PSAT. Less than 1 percent become semifinalists.

Abbott and Lange will go on to compete for 7,600 scholarships worth more than $30 million that will be offered next spring. To be considered for a National Merit Scholarship, semifinalists must advance to finalist standing in the competition by writing an essay, obtaining letters of recommendation, and demonstrating high academic performance. Finalists will be named in February.
