Senator Klobuchar talks with student at Da Vinci Fest

Senator Amy Klobuchar was one of hundreds of people who dropped by Stillwater Area High School this weekend for the 10th Annual Da Vinci Fest. During her visit she toured the science fair and spoke with students about their projects. She also addressed a crowd to share a message about the importance of science and technology in education.

The family-friendly event, which is sponsored by the Partnership Plan, features the artwork and science projects of hundreds of 4th-12th graders who live in the Stillwater Area Public School District.

In addition to the student projects, there were dozens of hands-on exhibits and demonstrations for festival-goers to explore. Kids had fun test driving dash and dot robots, getting an up-close look at a falcon that is part of the SAHS Raptor Program and Star Wars and droids and characters. Other special activities included ice sculpting, Star Lab, a 3M Wizard show, a Pony Pride selfie station, and performances by the Curio Dance Company and SAHS orchestra students.

The Science Fair part of Da Vinci Fest offers an opportunity for winning students to go on to further regional, state and international competition. The Art Fair gives winning students the chance to have their art displayed in a special show in a Stillwater art gallery.
