Sara Damon awarded Fulbright Distinguished Award in Teaching

Stillwater Area High School social studies teacher Sara Damon has been awarded a Fulbright Distinguished Award in Teaching (DAT) from the U.S Department of State and William J. Fulbright Foreign Scholarship Board.

Damon is one of 35 U.S. educators who will travel abroad to eleven different countries through the Fulbright DAT program in 2018-2019.

Damon will spend January to June 2019 in Gaborone, Botswana studying in the Population Studies Department at the University of Botswana, researching, conducting interviews and creating curriculum for Stillwater students and fellow Minnesota geographic educators.

Damon’s Fulbright Inquiry Project will focus on understanding changing population demographics in Southern Africa and local efforts to harness a youthful population for social and economic development. You can follow her journey online.
