Teams from Stillwater Area High School swept the Minnesota Stock Market Game. 138 teams took part in the statewide investment competition this spring. Jamar Callaway and Natalie Hagel came out on top, Emmanual Obikwelu placed second, and Joseph Devins and Theo Robinson came in third. This is the third time Stillwater has placed in the top three spots in the Stock Market Game.

During the 12-week competition, teams received a virtual $100,000 to invest in stocks and mutual funds. Portfolios are updated daily with real-time prices. Teams make trades on the internet using real ticker symbols and watch their portfolio value change with the stock market. Student teams compete by selecting stocks and mutual funds listed on the NASDAQ or NYSE exchanges.

SAHS students compete as part of Deb Drommerhausen's marketing class. Allianz Life served as the teams' company partner throughout the Spring game. They provided speakers and answered students' emails about investing concerns. The Stock Market Game is put on by BestPrep, a non-profit business that teaches students financial literacy.
