Haley Jostes at Regeneron Science Talent Search

Haley Jostes has been named a top 300 scholar in the Regeneron Science Talent Search. The Regeneron STS is the nation’s oldest and most prestigious science and mathematics competition for high school seniors. Jostes’ science project focused on using an aquatic plant (coontail) to help farmers clean water polluted by fertilizer. The coontail could then be used to fertilize organic crops.

Jostes will receive a $2,000 award with an additional $2,000 going to Stillwater Area High School to use toward STEM-related activities. 40 Finalists will be chosen to receive $25,000 and a trip to Washington, D.C. for a chance for the top prize of $250,000.

Jostes’ talent goes beyond the sciences. She is coming off a banner week where she also competed in the German Ice Skating Championship in Berlin.
