alumni speakers at Girl Power event

Six Stillwater Area High School alumni returned to their alma mater to inspire the next generation of female students. The women are some of the top leaders in the workforce. They have a wide range of backgrounds and professions and shared their experiences and advice at a Girl Power event hosted by the College and Career Center.

This year’s speakers included:

Carly Glaeser (Class of 2007) - Doctor of Physical Therapy at Courage Kenny Rehabilitation

Laurann Kirschner (Class of 2011) - Associate at Galowitz Olson, PLLC law firm

Katie McKenney (Class of 2008) - Postdoctoral biochemistry researcher at the University of Minnesota

Kami Mendlik (Class of 1991) - Artist and founder of St. Croix River School of Painting

Taylor Stippel (Class of 2009) - Attorney at Jeff Anderson and Associates

Lee Valsvik (Class of 1978) - Host at KOOL108 radio and KARE-11 TV

About fifty students attended the Girl Power event. It was first organized in 2016 by Keri Bischoff (Class of 1979). She came up with idea after thinking about all the amazing women she knows who graduated from her class. She is encouraging other alumni to share their success stories to inspire today's girls to dream big.
