The Pony Express has been recognized as one of the top high school newspapers in the country. Stillwater student journalists earned the 2018 George H. Gallup award from Quill and Scroll News Media Evaluation service. Stillwater is one of only 10 schools from across the country and the only school in the state of Minnesota to receive this high honor. It is given to those publications that achieved and sustained excellence during the 2017-2018 academic year. Gallup Award recognition is based on extraordinary improvement, exceptional service to the school and community, editorial campaigns, and in-depth reporting on special issues.

One of the judges commented on the Pony Express, “All stories are meticulously edited. Headlines are well written. Photos are always well edited, are clear, and help convey the story. Beautiful work consistently!”

This is the second time Stillwater earned the Gallup Award. The first time was in 2013.
