family back to school

For the second year in a row, parents are RAVING about their back to school experience. On average, elementary parents who completed the family experiences surveys rated their overall back to school experience 4.4 out of 5 stars, and secondary parents gave it 4 out of 5 stars.

  • 92% of K-5 grade parents felt Ready, Set, Go (RSG) conferences were a valuable way to start a new school year and about 90% said they felt the conferences helped students prepare for their first day of school.
  • 80% of 6-12 grade parents surveyed found the staggered start was a valuable way to start the year.

While the majority of feedback was positive, many parents shared concerns about the timing of the RSG conferences and back to school events at the secondary schools that occur during the day. Concerns about lack of childcare on RSG conference days were also raised. District leaders will be working with staff in the coming days to design schedules for next year that better meet the needs of working parents.

In Their Own Words (actual parent comments from the surveys):

  • "Best start ever!"
  • What an amazing experience this has been the past couple years. My children feel more prepared and comfortable walking through the doors on the first day since they have already been there. Teachers are absolutely amazing."
  • "These help relieve a lot of anxiety about start school"
  • "Huge kudos to whomever came up with the idea!"
