Make-up days scheduled

February 22, 2019

The school board voted to amend the calendar to provide make-up days because of the snow and cold cancellations earlier this year.

  • March 29 will be a school day for all students in grades K-12. March 29 was set aside as a grading day.
  • April 19 will be a make-up day for students in grades 6-12 only. April 19 was scheduled as a professional development day.

As of February 20, 2019, we are the equivalent of two days short (in hours) for our secondary students and one day short for our elementary students. If we should have additional weather-related non-school days between now and the end of April, the board would have to consider options such as adding minutes to the school day or utilizing a day on a weekend, extending the school year for elementary students or a combination of the options. Superintendent Pontrelli noted that the Minnesota Association of School Administrators is working with legislators to draft legislation that could waive the instructional hour requirement this year, however, it is unknown when or if that legislation might be approved.
