Kent Musser named Outstanding String Teacher in Minnesota

October 10, 2017

Orchestra teacher Kent Musser has been named “Outstanding String Teacher” by the Minnesota String and Orchestra Teachers Association (MNSOTA). Only one Minnesota school orchestra teacher is honored each year. MNSOTA says Musser was unanimously chosen based on his years of outstanding teaching and participation in MNSOTA programs for students, including multiple performances at their annual Middle Level Festival at Orchestra Hall.

Musser currently teaches orchestra at Stillwater Area High School and Stillwater Middle School.  He has taught in the district since 2001. Under his leadership, the Stillwater Junior High School orchestras have received consistently high ratings at the Heritage Festival in Chicago and the MNSOTA Tier 1 and Tier 2 festivals.  Both the 8th and 9th grade orchestras from Stillwater Junior high have been invited to perform at Orchestra Hall on several occasions.

In addition to his work in Stillwater schools, Musser also conducts the Sinfonia Orchestra of the Greater Twin Cities Youth Symphonies.
