Junior high music departments earn top ratings at Chicago Heritage Festival

Our junior high music departments had a successful showing in Chicago. Students with the Stillwater Junior High bands, orchestra and choirs competed at Worldstrides Heritage Festival on April 8 as well as the Oak-Land Junior High choirs. The SJHS Red Band was named Top Band at the festival, outscoring several high school bands to win the Adjudicator Award. The SJHS band, orchestra and choir also won Festival Sweepstakes for the top three music groups. The 8/9 grade men and women’s choirs from OLJH both earned gold ratings with 8th grader Maddie Motz and 9th grader Ryan Jinks winning the Ovation Award for solos.

  • Winner of “Adjudicator Award for Top Band at the Festival (The Red Band outscored several High School Bands to win this award)

  • Winner of "Instrumental Sweepstakes" for top 2 Instrumental Groups (Band and Orchestra)

  • Winner of “Festival Sweepstakes" for top 3 Music Groups (Band, Orchestra, Choir)

  • Chamber Choir received a Gold Award

  • Cora Bella Girls Choir (8/9 girls) Gold Award

  • Cambiata Boys Choir (8/9 boys) Gold Award

  • Also earned Choral Sweepstakes Award for the two top scoring choirs

SJHS orchestra

  • Camerata Orchestra received a Gold Award

  • Also earned an "Adjudicator's Award" for having an average score above 92/100

OLJH choirs
