Mark your calendar for these important back-to-school dates:

  • Monday, August 27: First day of school, grades 6 and 9

To ensure all students have a successful start to the 2018-19 school year, the first day of school will vary to meet the specific needs of each grade level. Elementary students (K-5) will start school on Wednesday, August 29 to allow parents time to schedule a 30-minute Ready, Set, Go! one-to-one conference with their child’s teacher. Students in grades 6 and 9 will start school on Monday, August 27 to allow them to attend a special orientation day in their new buildings. Students in grades 7-8 and 10-12 will begin on Tuesday, August 28.

Ready, Set, Go! Conferences (grades K-5)
August 27 and 28

We are excited to expand our Ready, Set, Go! Conferences to all elementary students and families this fall. Last year, our schools piloted the conferences with incoming kindergarteners and due to the positive response, all students grades K-5 will now have the opportunity.

The purpose of these conferences is to help develop a student-parent-teacher relationship and give teachers and students a chance to read together. Getting to know parents/guardians and their children personally is important to us. Successful beginnings and transitions help prepare the way for successful experiences.

These 30 minute, one-to-one conferences with students, families and their teacher will take place either August 27 or 28 before the school year officially begins. Schools will contact parents via School Messenger and email with specific scheduling information on August 10.

The conferences will be scheduled between the hours of 8 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. For families with multiple children we will do our best to schedule all conferences consecutively.

We look forward to connecting with families to ensure they have the strongest start possible to the school year.
