Ryan Ciminsk

Ryan Ciminski, a junior at Stillwater Area High School, was the recipient of the Youth Volunteer Award this year as a part of the Washington County Community Involvement Awards.

Ryan began volunteering as a junior high student, playing cribbage and chess with long-term care residents. Over the past several years he has volunteered at Bayport Library, as a math tutor at Mathnasium, serving as a page in the Minnesota House of Representatives, and is president of Key Club International, a student led community service club that provides members with opportunities to do service, build character and develop leadership. He is Junior Officer for the National Honor Society, and he also serves on the FEMA Region V Youth Preparedness Council. One of Ryan’s greatest thrills as a volunteer came as a result of his work with the H2O for Life Campaign when he helped raise $8,000 to build a well in South Sudan.

This year marks the 44th year of recognizing volunteers for their commitment through the Community Involvement Awards. The Awards were developed to recognize volunteers for their outstanding service and is a partnership between Community Thread and Washington County.
