The school board recently approved the selection of Dr. Jennifer Cherry as the assistant superintendent of Stillwater Area Public Schools. Dr. Cherry will begin her new position on August 3.

“We are thrilled to have Dr. Cherry join our leadership team to help guide our school district,” said interim superintendent Malinda Lansfeldt. “She has a wealth of experience as an educational leader and a strong commitment to ensuring each and every student succeeds.”

Dr. Cherry has taught and led educational programs for Edina Public Schools, Anoka-Ramsey Community College, Hennepin Technical College, the University of Minnesota, and most recently has served as the Director of Student Services in the Anoka-Hennepin School District. She holds a B.S. in Business Administration from Metropolitan State University, a M.Ed. in Business and Industry Education, and a Ph.D. in Education.

In her role with Stillwater schools, Dr. Cherry will oversee all aspects of teaching and learning in the school district. She’ll provide direction and oversight to areas of technology and innovation, curriculum and staff development, and student support services. She’ll work directly with building principals and district administrators to ensure every student has the resources and support they need.

“I am excited to roll my sleeves up and get to work,” Dr. Cherry said. “Stillwater has an excellent reputation for high academic achievement. I plan to listen intently to the stories of students, families, and staff and focus on opportunities that will build upon the great work that is already underway to ensure each and every student succeeds academically, socially, and emotionally.
