A 1973 graduate of Stillwater High School, Anderson — whose family started Anderson Corp. — graduated from Carlton College with a B.A. in English Literature. At age 27 in 1983, as the only local living family member, she was elected to the Andersen Corp. Corporate Board. Simultaneously she and her sisters, at their uncle’s request, took over the Hugh J. Andersen Foundation, which makes general grants, mostly to St. Croix Valley non-profits in the areas of human services, youth and arts and environmental education.

She became involved in the foundation’s support of Habitat for Humanity and helped in building 97 of the 100 Habitat homes constructed by the Andersen Corp. She found passion for the project and started the “Women’s Build,” which involved only women from the corporation doing the build.

She has been active in many community and church organizations including the Wilder Foundation, the Phipps Center for the Arts, the Guthrie Theater, American Red Cross and the Girl Scouts, serving as president of the Board of Directors of the Girl Scout Council of the St. Croix Valley.

Today, she runs SRI, a business created with her sister Christine which serves as the Hugh and Jane Andersen family business office.
