1987 - Reuben Thoreen

Rueben Thoreen – 1907: Attorney for Stillwater, Washington County and Bayport Village from 1913-1923, president of the Minnesota State Bar Association.

In 1912 Reuben Thoreen graduated from the University of Minnesota Law School and returned to Stillwater to join a prominent local lawyer in a private practice to cofound Lawson law firm. In 1948, Thoreen’s practice welcomed his son and son-in-law, John "Jack" F. Thoreen and Roderick A. Lawson, who were World War II veterans. Lawson became the firm’s namesake. Reuben was a well-known attorney who served as Washington County attorney from 1912 to 1922 and as president of the Minnesota State Bar Association.
