Pamela Johnson

Pamela (Ogren) Johnson, MS, RN, is the Chief Nursing Officer for Mayo Clinic and the Chair of the Department of Nursing in Rochester, Minnesota. In her role, the 1976 alumnae is accountable for all aspects of nursing and provides leadership, guidance and direction across all Mayo Clinic sites to align Mayo’s 14,000 nurses as a single integrated nursing practice. Ms. Johnson has worked at Mayo Clinic for 37 years, starting her career as a staff nurse at Rochester Methodist Hospital, and most recently as chair of the Department of Nursing. Ms. Johnson has been a member of both the Mayo Clinic Board of Governors and Mayo Clinic Board of Trustees. Ms. Johnson received her Bachelor of Art degree in Nursing from St. Catherine University in St. Paul, MN and holds a Master of Science in Nursing degree from the University of Minnesota, Minneapolis. Ms. Johnson is a member of the American Organization of Nurse Executives (AONE), the MN Organization of Leaders in Nursing (MOLN), the Rochester Ronald McDonald House Board of Directors and is a fellow in the American Academy of Nursing (FAAN). Ms. Johnson has spoken nationally on a number of topics including system integration and the integral role of professional nursing in contributing to healthcare redesign for patients and consumers.
