Attendance Boundary Committee 2016-2017

The Attendance Boundary Committee has been meeting since Spring 2016 to revise attendance boundaries for the 2017-2018 school year. The committee is made up of 24 parents and staff representing each of the district’s school communities.

Approved Boundary Plan: The district is planning to move forward with the boundary changes approved by the school board in May 2016. The approved plan is based on grade configuration changes, the sale of Valley Crossing Community School and the closure of Marine, Oak Park, and Withrow. View the approved plan.

Contingency Boundary Plan: In the event the school closure decision is overturned or delayed, the Attendance Boundary Committee has developed a contingency plan. The school board approved the contingency plan for elementary boundaries on Nov. 10, 2016. See approved elementary contingency plan. A decision on contingency boundaries for middle schools was delayed based on concerns raised by Rutherford and Andersen families regarding the feeder system. The boundary committee will reconvene in December to discuss the middle school boundaries.

  • 834 Voice has sued the district and a stay is in place that prevents the district from implementing closures pending the outcome of the Court of Appeals case this winter. The contingency plan is a result of this stay.

Note: The school board has voted to stay any school closings until a decision is made by the court of appeals. This stay does allow for planning to continue to ensure district staff and families are prepared for either outcome.
