Pony Speed Training Program

Stillwater Area High School is proud to announce that the Acceleration Minnesota speed treadmill program has been installed on campus!

Acceleration Minnesota has been the premier speed program in the Twin Cities since 1990. Acceleration is a science based and result driven speed program that uses high speed incline treadmills to teach proper running technique, correct running form, stride length, and stride frequency. These treadmills incline up to 40% grade and can reach speeds of 28 mph. This program will run in 6-8 week intervals and allow students and/or adults to schedule 1 to 2 workouts per week. Also, by installing this on campus, we can charge less than the Acceleration facilities located in Arden Hills and Hudson, WI. Student athletes ages 10 yrs old and up are eligible to sign up for the Pony Speed Program.

The treadmill science: Athletes sprint in front of mirrors to see and correct running stride flaws. The inclines used correct foot strike and get athletes to run on the ball of the foot instead of the heel. Running at an incline activates the glutes and hamstrings 200% more than flat ground running and promotes higher knee drive thus increasing stride length. The speeds used, force athletes to sprint at 100% effort and more. During the latter part of the workout there are 2-3 second periods where the athlete is getting held on the treadmill by the trainer. This all leads to longer strides and a faster runner.

Individual payment plans are available. You can break your payment up into 2 or 3 monthly papments. Payments must be paid prior to starting training.

Summer Pony Power and Performance and Speed Training

Pony Power and Performance and Pony Speed Training

“What you do in the offseason determines how you will do in the regular season” George Allen

Get at the top of your game this summer with Stillwater Area Strength and Conditioning Program for males and females grades 7-12. Athletes will be led by trained Strength and Conditioning Coaches varying from our current high school coaching staff to former Stillwater standouts competing collegiately.

Individual programs are created to develop the beginning, intermediate and experienced student-athlete. Optional Friday yoga sessions provide additional flexibility and core strength training. Yoga is a proven training technique that benefits all athletes in the areas of flexibility, balance and strength. Two yoga sessions will be offered to PPP participants each Friday: 800-8:50 AM & 9:00-9:50 AM throughout the summer. Yoga sessions are optional.

A certified nutritionist will speak to all PPP participants during the summer to enhance performance through nutrition. Pony Power and Performance Training will focus on:

  • Teaching proper lifting technique
  • Strength/Explosive Power
  • Speed/Agility/Quickness
  • Linear and lateral speed and explosiveness
  • Acceleration and deceleration
  • Nutrition, rest and recovery
  • Flexibility and core training

A new training program includes the strength and conditioning of Pony Power and will also include Acceleration MN Speed training on high speed incline treadmills. Running at an incline at higher speeds improves stride length and frequency, while teaching proper running technique. The benefits of this are increased speed, explosiveness and efficient running. The treadmill training sessions are called Pony Speed Program (course 942) and require a trained running coach to operate the treadmills and properly train student-athletes in running. Pony Speed Training will occur, before, during or after the stated Pony Power and Performance group you are signing up for. Training sessions on the treadmills are 45 minutes in length and will be organized after registration occurs.

Pony Power and Performance will start June 3 - August 3, offering 32 training sessions. Pony Speed training will take place 2 times per week with 12 training sessions. Pony Speed will start June 10 - July 26, with the last week of July/Early August used as a make up week for any treadmill sessions that may have been missed over the summer.

There will be no Pony Power and Performance or Pony Speed Training The week of July 1-6.

Financial assistance is available for those that qualify. Please contact the PAC Office for details 651-351-8037 or  '; // --> . No student interested in the Pony Speed Training program will be turned away.
